Melton Mencap and Gateway is a small voluntary organisation based in the centre of Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire. It has charitable status and is managed by a small group of Executive Committee of Trustees.
We provide a range of groups to support children, young people and adults with learning disabilities. We aim to support their carers too. By providing a range of clubs and groups we give people the opportunity to occupy their leisure time by developing their own skills, interests and friendships. By making their own choices and increasing their confidence, well being and self esteem.
Our service is available to people who live in the borough of Melton or access services in Melton. A place at one of our groups is offered following assessment with a group leader and their discussion with the Mencap Manager. A place is offered and conditional on us being able to safely meet the needs of the individual and other people. Group places will be reviewed regularly and as necessary if there are concerns from any party. Individuals and their family/carers will be informed of and involved in this review.
Grants, donations and fund raising are essential to finance our programmes and is an ongoing mission for our service to ensure the groups continue. We are appreciative of any ideas that will support our search for money and secure funding for us. If you can help please contact out treasurer Mr Rod Yalden or our Manager Yvonne Iwanczuk by telephone or email. Go to our club pages and find out more.
